Duties of Current Occupation
Complete care of warm blood show jumping horses in a small private yard. Duties include: feeding, skipping out, show preparation, first aid and administering medication, riding and lunging, housekeeping of yard to a high standard.
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding since I was a child and then took a break from it to go to university for a few years before deciding I would rather pursue a career with horses. I have experience in a variety of yards including being a groom in show jumping yards and flat racing; and as head horse trekking guide in New Zealand. I have experience in handling, breaking, long reining and lunging young horses. As a horse trek guide I was charged with fitting customers with correct protective wear, providing a short lesson, hospitality on the trek and scheduling treks. I currently work at a private show jumping yard where I exercise the horses through riding and lunging including all general yard duties.
Specialities
At my current job and previous positions I was known for a very high standard of tidiness, a friendly demeanour and dedication to my job. I have experience in a variety of yards including being a groom in show jumping yards and flat racing; and as head horse trekking guide in New Zealand. I enjoy helping others learn, people and horses and I am looking to further my own skills in management and with young horses.
Type of Ride Work
I am currently riding flat work and hacking at my current job. I also exercise a Norwegian Fjord for a friend. In the past I have ridden work at a racing yard, helped back youngsters and ridden lead pony for breakers. I also worked for 6 months as a trekking guide which required riding at all levels, training up new horses and exercising horses who were for sale.
