Duties of Current Occupation

Studying

Equine Work Experience

I’ve done a year of work experience/ volunteering for world horse welfare. Where I’ve learned a lot about young and unbroken horses. I’ve also kept our private yard in good condition by maintaining fields throughout the seasons, washing, organising and tidying stables, tack rooms and feed rooms. I’ve also worked with and treated many ailments from laminitis and cussions to abscesses and tissue injuries.

Specialities

I’ve mostly worked with young and inexperienced horses but I am confident on the ground and will take on any horse. I have had to turn out, muck out, feed, poo pick before and after school since we have our own horses. I worked in a team at world horse welfare, where we were assigned jobs but I’m also interested in a leader roll as I’m joining the OTC (officer training corps) at Aberdeen University. I’ve been a senior at pony club I’ve had to make sure all horses have had the correct care.

Type of Ride Work

I’ve done a lot of work with green/ inexperienced horses both my own and others in my area. I rode a 15.2 cob who needed confidence in jumping and was very backwards and got him going round a course and doing cross country at pony club. My pony (14,2 highland x Arab) had done nothing apart from take off around a school before we got her and was extremely unconfident around poles/jumps till eventually doing Hunter pace at dunecht and various competitions ( dressage, showing).

Competition Details

I’ve competed many times and I’ve usually been fully responsible for my horse since we have no grooms and I have helped others (mostly dressage) I’ve been showing since I got my first pony. Ive been eventing (BE80) and I’ve showed my horses. I haven’t yet competed to a higher level than BE80 but always competed when myself and the horse was ready and have always been in the higher placings in BD and BE. I was also working on novice tests with my horse who has unfortunately been lame.
