Qualifications

I completed my bar qualification on ponies and reached bar 1; I did not get any further than this due to age restrictions at the time. I am hoping to begin a recognised teaching qualification and hope to complete an equine management degree in a few years time.

Duties of Current Occupation

I am currently a student but will finish my education imminently and I am searching for full time employment in the equine industry

Equine Work Experience

I have competed in showjumping from a very early age and have competed to a national level on ponies and I am hoping to compete at Grand Prix level with one of my horses I currently have. I have also competed in showing classes as a young child and trained in both showing and working hunter. My main experience is in showjumping but my skills on and off a horse are easily transferable. I have a lot of experience working with horses on the flat as several of my ponies and horses have needed extensive retraining with their flatwork. I have stabled in both livery and private yards and I understand the workings of both types of yards and how important different things are, such as tidiness and sticking to routines. I have 16 years experience with horses and have gained a vast amount of skills in my time in the equine world, training with Olympic level coaches and representing my region at a national level in Ireland.

Specialities

I have trained in showjumping for the majority of my career in horses but thoroughly enjoy working with horses on the flat and appreciate the importance of having a well rounded horse. I pride myself on the level of care I can provide for horses, in the stable as well as when being ridden. I am a very confident rider and will willingly work with any horse, no matter how “difficult” it can be. Top quality care is crucial and I always ensure every horse I look after is a happy, healthy animal.

Type of Ride Work

I have experience with showjumpers, many of whom have been “hot” and at times have been difficult and less than straightforward to ride. I have also ridden horses who are very quiet and lacking in energy who need to be ridden forward positively. I have ridden several young ponies and horses, but have not solely owned any myself; however I understand how a young horse can react and behave. I have experience of riding horses on the flat and building them up to be a well rounded horse.

Competition Details

I have competed in many competitions over the years and the yard I am currently stabled at have a lot of competition horses, including my own. I understand what is needed from a competition groom and the standards which have to be met, both in the yard and when looking after horses.
