Duties of Current Occupation

Includes learning skills: basic clipping; basic horse first aid; horse competition preparation (plaiting, grooming etc); bandaging for travel and exercise; feed and nutrition; stable management; conformation; basic tack fitting and maintenance;

Equine Work Experience

Thurleigh equestrian – Bedford (May 2024) On my work experience tasks carried out were: pick out feet washing off feet and legs, poo pick fields, ragwart removal, getting horses ready for lessons, tack clean, make feeds and hay nets, make and weigh hay nets, grooming, rugs changes depending on the weather, field upkeep moving electric, fencing, top waters in field and stables, muck out/ skipping out, exercises horses, worked with project pony, teaching and observing lessons on real and mechanical, horses as well as lunge lessons. Ride high equestrian – Milton Keynes (2021-2023 part time) Undertaking tasks such as: mucking out stables, turn out and bring in the horses. wash off legs and pick out feet, tacking up horses ready for lessons, helping with ride high kids’ activities on the ground (sensory grooming session, pony painting, teaching about rugs and tack), back stop on group hacks, leading in lessons, observing jumping and dressage, poo pick fields, making feed and hay

Specialities

General yard duties: mucking out; turn out and bring in; grooming; tacking up; assist mounting; set up for the lessons; hay nets and feed. Riding new horses and viewing horses to make sure they’re fit for the riding school. unfortunately don't have my qualification yet I'm planning to get my BHS qualification in the future
