I have been working with horses for 10 years, where I started working as a stable hand at my wellington riding. While there I would tack up, clean stables and assist in lessons in exchange for lessons. I bought my first youngster when I was 14 and after the two years I owned him, where I made a profit of £5000, I learnt just as much about caring for horses as I did riding them. I have dealt with severe colic cases, rehabilitation from lameness, bad doers, stroppy mares. I can plait, bandage, lunge and I would love to learn how to clip. I have ridden for university teams riding a variety of horses but also had the experience of teaching new members how to ride and basic stable skills. I am confident in the knowledge I have but would love to learn more and get back into riding and being around horses since leaving university this year.
I have had the ability to work with people new to horse riding and understand the importance of social skills when working with beginners. I have great people skills and am friendly and confident talking to everyone, whether that's just for a chat or if its to help someone. I love working with youngsters and being able to watch their progress and know that I have put time and effort into creating a well mannered and established horse.
I have experience in riding a vast range of horses in a number of different disciplines. From learning in a riding school to producing my own youngsters. I Have ridden a range of different ponies and horses ranging from cheeky cobs to A grade showjumpers. I am unfazed by naughty ponies or by bucking or rearing and am very calm under stressful situation, I don't have a fizzy seat which is very valuable when working with youngsters or hot horses.
Throughout my years owning horses I have had my fair share of competing experience. I have competed in dressage, showjumping and eventing on a variety of horses and ponies. I am most experience eventing and showjumping where I have competed unaffiliated up to 1m. While at university I competed on the equestrian 1st team; this consists of jumping a round and riding a dressage test on horses we've previously never ridden, jumping consistently at 90cm and riding a novice dressage test.
