Duties of Current Occupation
Meeting store targets by selling and discussing products, services and propositions that meet the customer’s needs in an enthusiastic and knowledgeable way. I am a key holder within my role and help to train new staff.
Equine Work Experience
I was a Wrangler at a YMCA residential summer camp for children in the USA from 2012-2017. My primary responsibility included teaching horse riding to children aged 7 to 16 years and tending to a herd of over 20 horses. My specific job duties included, but were not limited to; supervising from 6 to 20 campers, acting as the liaison between the Equestrian Director and camp programming staff, managing the schedule, helping to maintain overall herd health, creating lesson content and programming materials as needed, and ensuring the barn and horses were appropriately selected and prepared for daily programming. I was also responsible for the training and supervision of Counsellor Wranglers. As the Head Wrangler I interacted with a diverse range of people, ranging from counsellors to children, in an appropriate manner. This required tailoring each interaction to produce the desired result while maintaining a working relationship, or encouraging a fun and safe atmosphere.
Type of Ride Work
I have had riding lessons since I was a child. I am comfortable in walk, trot and canter. I would describe myself as a more recreational rider but I have always been interested in turning this into a career. I have been to different riding schools over the years so I am very used to riding different kinds of horses. As part of my job working in the USA we had to test out all of our horses to see what roles and types of riders they would be best suited for.
