Equine Work Experience
I have the BHS Stage 3 Teach; Care, and lunge qualifications, with the full ride exam booked August 2022.
I am an experienced educator - working as a university lecturer for over 10 years, and as a youth worker, primarily with disabled youth, also for a number of years, primarily in South London.
I am a part time yard manager and coach at a BHS Approved urban riding school charity in Birmingham city. I work approximately 20 hours a week. In this role I teach Pony Club, Stable Management and Horse Riding (dressage and jumping), working with complete beginners up until those training for the BHS Stage 3 exams. Many of the young people I work with have disabilities; most come from non-horsey backgrounds, and come with a range of needs - we work with children excluded from school, looked after children and so on.
I also plan schedules and ride lists; do standard yard duties - mucking out; grooming; horse welfare - and manage volunteers.
