Duties of Current Occupation

Equine Coach Level 3 BHS apprenticeship to qualify as Equine Groom 7 Years experience working with horses, horse care, teaching, coaching, lunging.

Equine Work Experience

Managing the day to day running of the stables. Working alongside other employed staff and supervising of volunteers. Making sure the horses and other animals are well looked after and have adequate food and water. Mucking out of stables. Being aware of infection control and quarantining sick animals. Administering medication and carrying out first aid if a horse has injured itself or been hurt. Treating of abscesses etc. Keeping horses safe and are kept healthy. Ensuring that staff + volunteers are all abiding by Health and Safety procedures. Dealing with deliveries to the stables of hay and animal feed etc. Assisting the vet and farrier when they visit. Welcoming visitors to the stables. Teaching riding and practical lessons on a 1 to 1 basis or a group of students. Reporting accidents and injuries. Communicating with the Owner of Summerfield Stables on a regular basis, informing her of any issues or concerns.

Specialities

No I haven't yet. Most of the horses at Summerfields Stables are rescued horses and not thoroughbred
