Duties of Current Occupation
To maintain the smooth running of the yard when lessons change over. Muck out stables, groom horses, tack up and untack horses, feed and put out to fields, getting horses in and ready for lessons. Maintaining a high level of standards at the livery
Equine Work Experience
Yes, I have ridden for 7 years and been working as a Stable/Yard Hand for just over a year at the riding school I am currently at. I have had yard duty responsibility for around a year. Confident with the knowledge I currently have to handle the horses on the year, ensure horse and rider are comfortable and ready to ride. I have a full understanding of how the stables are to be looked after, feeds, any medications and any individual needs relating to each horse.
Specialities
As I am only 17 I am still gaining alot of experience and I am looking for a full career in the Equine industry and to expand my knowledge.
In my current role, which is part time, I am given the responsibility to run and manage the yard during afternoon and evening lessons. I pride myself on working to a high standard and getting everything done in a timely manner - I have been complimented on this many times. I am good under pressure and don't shy away from just getting stuck in.
