My professional/paid experience is all customer service based and I currently work as a hairdresser. However, I have always been around stables and livery yards. I used to school, groom, muck out, and help with general cleaning up at Gasston Stables.

Spent 8 years (give or take) regularly attending Gasston stables to learn horse riding. As this was a livery yard, I was also responsible for getting the horse ready, and grooming and cleaning the horse afterwards. I joined in with the general mucking out and cleaning of the communal spaces in exchange for discounts on lessons. I would also engage in regular hacking out, dressage events, and would assist in cross country events. I have 3 different family members who still keep horses of their own and occasionally I am able to spend time with them and their horses.

As my current experience is with hairdressing, I am confident that I can translate this skill into grooming and getting horses dressage ready. I have slight previous experience with braiding, grooming, and tacking up horses for dressage. I also have experience leading a team within a hairdressing salon, which includes girls as young as 15, so am confident in leading groups of people of varying ages and backgrounds.

Spent most of my time riding a family owned cob-cross who is small in size but is fast and can have a difficult temperament when riding! I became confident in trot, canter, jumping and hacking out. Have also had lessons here and there at school only yards in Surrey where I rode much slower cobs in a larger group school setting. Have had the chance to hack out in the hills and valleys in Swanage where I learnt the basics of Western riding. Also have some experience with Falabella’s.

Have slight experience in getting horses ready for dressage and have been around livery yards on multiple occasions when they are running competitions. Have also attended cross country events.
