I’ve never worked at a racing yard but I have been a groom at Oak Fields farm I have been in an exercise rider for youngsters at Roundoak farm.
I have been with horses all of my life I have always had an interest in racing and hunting in September I’m going to the British racing school to train to be a jockey I will be there for 12 weeks. I have been hunting with hired horses. I have my own horses that I’ve broken myself I take them out cross country and showjumping. Last year I went to college to study my level 2 equine management I passed with a distinction. This summer I have been to 2 equine jobs I currently are working both of them part time, in these jobs I am a groom I’m an exercise rider I take them to showjumping competitions and cross country competitions. I have never worked at a racing yard but I’m very keen to learn and I have a real passion for horses.
I have worked with young courses before but I’ve never worked with foals, youngest I’ve worked with is two years old. I’ve worked with stallions before as they had a study in at my college. I have never worked with broodmares before. I have experience leading a team as I was head groom at Roundoak farm. I am quick at mucking out because at college I had to look out a stable in 15 minutes in order for me to pass, and I can keep the yard tidy when I muck out.
In my past jobs I have been breaking in young horses and exercising them and producing them to be dressage horses mainly showjumpers. I’ve broken my own horse in and we are now competing doing cross country and showjumping.
I haven’t been a competition groom but I have worked in a busy competition environment. I have competed I have competed at Elland Lodge doing showjumping and cross country with my own horse I don’t enjoy competing cross country that much but because my horse loves it I do it.
