Other than experience I have no qualifications.
I have been riding properly since I was 12 and I am now nearly 22 years old. I learnt to ride at a small riding school in Woodbury Salterton called Julia’s. I spent all of my spare time up at the stables, mucking out, making new beds, grooming, bathing, exercising horses by lunging them, caring for horses and ponies that are unwell by giving correct food supplements and giving medicines. At a young age I had a lot of responsibility at Julia’s, and as I became more experienced at riding I was given the chance to ride newly broken-in ponies and to bring them on. This gave me great experience on how to deal with young and very unpredictable ponies and horses. At 14 I finally got my own pony called Locket, she was a welsh section B cross Arab. My family live on a farm so we had plenty of space and riding routes to go on. She was incredibly over weight, hooves were slightly over grown. When I rode her I could tell she was poorly broken in and did not have much schooling.
I am a confident, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual that enjoys leading and working within a team, but I am also a self-starter who operates well individually. I am competitive and love a challenge and firmly believe in completing any task, big or small, to the very best of my ability. I am friendly, sociable and have excellent interpersonal skills and take great pride in helping people.
From a lot of patience and hard work she was a different pony, her fitness was incredible. She never stopped pleasing me. I got her working on the bit, we did a few cross country classes. She was very responsive and kind in the school, calm and collective when hacking, and jumped like she was 16hh and did get a little excited when jumping, but what pony isn’t.
I have done small shows at Budleigh riding school, and some local, also competing in jumping classes and cross country.
