Studying to gain as many credits as possible in this course.
Before my two years at The Big Sheep, I worked at Roylands Riding stables, preparing the horses for lessons in the arena, beach rides and country hacks. I used to walk with nervous children and disabled children, with a lead rope and lots of encouraging talks. Roylands was very supervised but at the Big Sheep I was left to look after the ponies and organise pony rides in the afternoons, through the school summer holidays. Marey was my favourite horse to work with and owning a horse has made me more aware of their needs and their health. Eventually my long term goal is Equine Nursing but I would have to study on the Open Equine College course as I am very committed to looking after Marey and do not want to leave Devon. Looking at the list of key skills below I would look forward to learning all the ones I have not ticked.
I am presently at Bristol UWE, accepted for Biological Studies but actually doing Business and Management. In November, I rescued a horse, called Marey and am now very committed to looking after her, and I come back every weekend and sometimes mid-week. I am finishing my course moving to a career in horse care and management and receiving training for
At Roylands, I very much enjoyed going out on hacks and leading in the arena. I would like to learn so much more about caring for horses as being with them all day you notice their different needs and how to adapt.. I feel as though working with you would be such a fantastic experience. I am hoping to gain qualifications as a Riding Instructor and Horse Care / Management. My ultimate goal is to become an Equine Nurse but I need to be working to pay as I learn.
I am a member of the UWE Riding school and we have a competition this Friday at Summerhouse in Gloucester. In the summer I will be entering Marey for local shows. I do enjoy clipping and plaiting and grooming Marey on a weekly basis, to keep her looking good.
