Duties of Current Occupation

Currently have 2 jobs

Equine Work Experience

I worked in a voluntary capacity at green cottage riding centre and stud bringing horses back into work. I did this by creating a tailored fitness plan for each horse and maintaining fitness throughout lockdown; this included backing one of the horses. I was also involved with turning out and bringing in the brood mares and foals, grooming the foals and getting the foals used to being led in head collars. I also worked at kingston Maurward college throughout the year of 2021 as bank staff alongside attending college there. I did my work experience for college at dogdean livery for a couple of weeks and worked to a high industry standard.

Specialities

I have experience handling foals and assisting in the process of natural insemination. I have also worked with both broodmares and stallions. I have led teams as part of both voluntary work and in education, and feel comfortable giving direction to people as needed. I have experience working on a variety of yards such as dogdean livery (where I keep my horse currently), kingston Maurward college and green cottage livery and stud.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden many problem horses, greener horses and younger more inexperienced horses and I am confident in the situations these horses can put you in. I enjoy jumping although I prioritise having a good level of flatwork to prepare the horse for jumping, I have regular flatwork lessons to build on my skill set in dressage. I have experience starting a horse as I have done this as part of my college course as well as backing a horse for its owner over lockdown.

Competition Details

I have been to smaller showjumping competitions with my horse but I would like more experience competing. I was involved with running a show as part of my course at college which gave me a good idea of what it takes to organise an event. Whilst I haven’t worked at a competition yard I have studies this and understand the requirements needed and can put these into practice and would love the opportunity to do so.
