Nestled on 500 acres of rolling hills in southern California sits the only full-service, veterinarian operated, equine sports medicine, rehabilitation & conditioning center of its kind. It is ideally located just steps away from the San Luis Rey Downs Training Center & San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, and in close proximity to Santa Anita Racetrack, Los Alamitos Racetrack, Galway Downs, and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club & Racetrack.
I currently hold 8 x A grades at National 5 Level. My predicted grades for the upcoming Higher exams are 5 x A grades (including English, Maths, Biologly). I currently hold no equine-related qualifications.
I have been riding for 8 years and have 2 years of recent experience of working on a riding school and livery yard. During my time there, I handled everything from unbroken and feral horses to fit competition horses. I assisted with schooling young horses on occasion and found this especially rewarding. Whilst working on such a busy yard, I became an intuitive and proactive member of a team whose primary interests, like mine, lay with providing high quality care with attention to detail. During busy hours, I was given the rewarding task of teaching a handful of children to ride, alongside the instructors. I have also full-loaned a horse for a year, giving me the confidence to manage an equine's day to day health, nutrition and fitness.
I have an eye for detail and will leave no stone unturned when it comes to providing horses with the best care possible. My dedication and commitment to tasks never slips below 110% and I will always ask for advice if I need it and would offer help and motivation to my colleagues as I am a team player. I welcome constructive criticisms, deadlines and pressuring tasks with an "I Can" attitude as I am driven to become an efficient, reliable and contentious groom.
I would prefer an opportunity to ride but it is not a requirement. Though my riding experience is limited due to mainly riding school horses, this has allowed me to experience working with every "type" of horse and so I have become a confident and quiet rider, capable of schooling and hacking out any horse (even the mischievous ones!).
