Duties of Current Occupation

Teaching a variety of lessons, from beginners to advanced riders. I teach group lessons, jump lessons and lunge lessons. I also carry out yard duties, working on the livery yard, riding school or the hacking yard.

Equine Work Experience

I attended plumpton college in Lewes for a year taking the level 2 diploma course, achieving a distinction *. While attending college I also volunteered at my local.horse sanctuary for under 2 years, handling all sorts of horses. While at the horse sanctuary I helped out on the yard mucking out, turning in/out, schooling some of the horses, building up the horses trust. I also took the level 2 groom apprenticeship course at Wellington Riding in Reading for a year, carrying out all yard duties, helping out when they had shows on and making sure all horse were tacked up for lessons. After my apprenticeship I moved to London to be a junior instructor at stag lodge stables, building up my teaching skills working towards my BHS stage 2 ride and teach. In the past I have also had 3 horses on loan throughout my life, doing all yard duties caring for the horse everyday.

Specialities

I have worked with very nervous horses, and a foal while volunteering at a horse sanctuary. I have ran the livery yard, making sure all the horses were cared for, all yard duties were carried out, I also helped the liveries with any of their enquiries. I also lead the team on the school yard for 5 days during pony week, making sure all the lessons got out on time, helping my colleagues with any questions, lesson plans for their group and doing yard checks

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden all my life, but have ridden at least once a week for the past 3 years. With my loan horses I use to hack them alot and take them to some local shows. I prefer riding on the flat but I also enjoy jumping alot, I can get a bit nervous when jumping but I love to challenge myself so will always give it ago.

Competition Details

While working at Wellington Riding I assisted with many of the shows, putting jumps up and helping change the course. I carried out late night checks on the horses staying in our temporary stables over the competing season.
