Duties of Current Occupation

All yard work, equine first aid, teaching, plaiting, clipping, riding - schooling and fast work.

Equine Work Experience

Spent my adult life working within the industry, and grew up in the pony club, owning my first pony from the age of 8. I spent 6 seasons as a work rider for Charleston Racing carrying out all yard duties, leading up at the races and riding work at home. I have worked for Sussex Equestrian Sales, who breed/produce/ buy and sell quality showjumpers. All yard duties, foal watch, exercising, riding for clients, breaking in, riding young horses in the ring. Also a UKCC coach, I spent 5 months in the Caribbean as a chief instructor for the Jamaican Pony Club and running camps in Grand Cayman. For the pony club I have co run senior camp for 10 years, taught at Junior camp and organised Eventing and SJ clinics and teams. At home, we have bred several sporthorse/pony foals mostly aimed for eventing who I have produced, shown in hand and then backed and broken. Two are now commercial stallions. Australia I backed and broke QH aimed for polocrosse/mustering/camp drafting.

Specialities

Experienced across all spheres of the equine industry, from endurance to racing, eventing to dressage and am knowledgeable and competent when backing and breaking youngsters, having backed all our own family homebreds including our own two commercial stallions. Spent time in rural/remote Australia learning to break in wild 2 year olds the 'Horsemanship' way. See Gordan McKinley or Buck Brannaman for methods. I would say I am skilled, and sympathetic when working with young/green horses.

Type of Ride Work

I can school to a decent standard and am competent jumping both xc and SJ. Having worked in racing and hunted and evented myself I am confident and efficient when riding fast work. All my job positions with horses have been ridden ones and I consider myself a quiet, sympathetic, experienced rider. I have ridden a huge variety of different horses across many spheres of the equine world Inc Eventing/Showjumping/Dressage/Showing/Endurance/Racing/Hunting/Drafting/Barrel Racing.

Competition Details

Evented upto BE Novice and BS Senior Newcomers and BS Junior Foxhunters. Pony Racing championships age 16. PC National Endurance Champs age 25. Consistently evented all homebreds. Competed in Le Trec, driving trials, CT, Arena Eventing, Mounted Games, and while in Australia competed in Camp Drafting (cattle work), cutting (cattle work) and mustering cattle.
