Duties of Current Occupation

Most recently employed for almost 2 and a half years at a spa in the F&B department alongside my degree. Equine wise I have completed extensive placement at varying yards and have volunteered and worked at yards (mainly riding schools) from age 10.

Equine Work Experience

I have been around horses for 12 years, beginning with riding lessons, where I quickly became interested in the BTS of proper horse care. I began volunteering there and at my next yard once a week for many years assisting with competitions, general yard duties, horse care, lessons, hack leading and providing information to customers. We purchased our own horse post-covid, an ex-hunter, who now requires regular hacking and long reining due to arthritic changes. I had a Sunday job as sole charge of a small livery yard, assisting in exercising horses during my A levels and competed in dressage as well. At Hartpury University I gained extensive experience and branched out in terms of yard types and position to gain more varied experience in the industry, including placement at a veterinary practice, a rehabilitation and pre-training/racing yard and at a small riding school. Extensive modules completing self lead groundwork sessions with resident horses, alongside a range of content.

Specialities

Worked with young race horses, foals, high competition horses and a range of riding school horses across many yards. Worked as sole charge of a small livery yard and also as part of a team. Have competed in dressage up to Novice.

Type of Ride Work

Ridden majority flatwork/schooling, but also plenty of jumping, some cross country as well. Been ridding for 12 years mainly riding school horses until we got our ex-hunter who is now the only horse I generally ride. Have ridden friends horses on occasion, I am firm but forgiving and confident to give anything a go. I hack regularly as our horse has various ailments due to his age.

Competition Details

I had placement at a racing and rehabilitation yard with resident horses consisting of young race horses going on the water treadmill and spa for strengthening and high competition horses from going on for rehabilitation of injuries. We also had walk in clients often for strengthening who could be difficult. I have competed in some dressage competitions.
