Qualifications

At Horse rangers you have to complete certain theory and practical levels in order to progress. I am considered a Golden Spur which is the top level at the moment. I have also passed a series of ABRS tests. I am currently studying public services at the Colchester Institute to hopefully get into the police and become a mounted police officer.

Equine Work Experience

I have been attending harwich horse rangers for 10 years now, learning how to ride and look after horses during the four seasons. Over this period of time I have been able to progress my riding and been lucky enough to attend rally’s at the Tendring hundred show; showing shows and my favourite, showjumping competitions. There are up to 40 horses at horse rangers, ranging from all different types of breeds, ages, sizes and temperaments, some of which are rescues. During the last 2 years I have been teaching basic stable management, theory to small groups of beginners.

Specialities

I would say I am an all rounder, I enjoy anything horsey and will give anything a go. I am well organised and self motivated especially when there is a time limit or in a high pressured situation.

Type of Ride Work

I have always loved schooling horses and learning how every horse is different and what works for them. One of the horses I ride at the moment is an Irish Sports Horse called Domino; 2 years ago he tore his near fore digital flexor tendon. Over the past 8 months I have slowly started bringing him back into work, but we mainly go out hacking as he loves to explore. I would say I’m a confident rider and I am always willing to go the extra mile.

Competition Details

Since I was 9 I’ve been attending Wix Equestrian Centre to compete in their jumping competitions and occasional showing shows. I have been lucky enough to take many different horses to these shows and gain experience and confidence competing. I’ve also competed in a number of Showing shows at the Tendering Hundred Show, sometimes qualifying for the championships. The yard I am at now is mostly very busy and time managed so I am used to a fast paced setting.
