Equine Work Experience
I have volunteered at Balcurvie Riding School since 2012 where I was introduced to the basics of horse care. From 2017 to 2020 I attended SRUC Oatridge College where further opportunity was given to expand my experience around horses. I attended two weeks of work placement at different yards over each year. During this time I had worked with and cared for TB racehorses, large driving horses and Clydesdale's.
Specialities
I take pride in leading and delegating a team to the correct role; ensuring everyone works to their own strengths so the task in hand is completed efficiently. I pride myself on my consistent hard work and desire to work in a tidy environment. I feel it is as important to be neat and tidy in my own appearance too as i represent the company.
Type of Ride Work
I am a calm and confident rider - would be happy to ride all types/breed of horse although lack experience with youngsters under 6 year old - qualified with BHS Stage 1 in Complete Horsemanship. Prefer to ride horses on the flat however capable of jumping small courses of approximately 80cm. I have a small amount of experience in backing and breaking horses into ridden work although i have not often been given the opportunity to ride youngsters.
Competition Details
I have groomed professionally at Blair Athol Horse Trials in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for the Working Hunter Pony class. This involved a lot of planning and preparation on my behalf. I took on the full role of a groom and done everything from bathing and loading the horses to plaiting manes, pulling tails and arranging with the farrier to have stud holes punched into the shoes.
