Duties of Current Occupation

I am a veterinary student studying at Glasgow university. I have had horses of my own all my life and keep them at my own private yard. I have had a lot of experience with stallions, youngsters, hunters, showjumpers, eventers and ex-racers.

Equine Work Experience

I have had horses of my own all my life and keep them at my own private yard. I have had a lot of experience with stallions, youngsters, hunters, showjumpers, eventers and ex-racers. I have worked in a showjumping yard, an eventing and hunting yard. These were temporary summer positions as I had school and university. I am self taught in Liberty, Parelli and free riding. I am a big believer in parelli and natural horsemanship and I am known locally for being very good at it. This is the most rewarding aspect of horsemanship for me, being able to connect and act like part of a horses herd by reading behaviour and body language is crucial in order to completely understand and work with horses properly in order to get the best tune out of them. I have applied parelli and natural horsemanship techniques to all the horses I work with and learn something new from each and every one of them which is one of my favourite parts about horses - you learn something new every single day.

Specialities

I am known to be a bit of a perfectionist so always turn out my horse immaculately. I am very good at plaiting/pulling mane and tails and overall my turnout skills are very good. I am quick to muck out and keep yards very tidy and organised. I have worked with stallions, ex racers and youngsters and I am currently producing a young horse and an ex racer. I am very good at setting up pole/flatwork/jumping exercises that are suited to each individual horse and my lunging skills are very good.

Type of Ride Work

I have had a lot of experience with stallions, youngsters, hunters, showjumpers, eventers and ex-racers. I am currently producing a young Connemara and an ex-racer. I have a connemara pony that I compete at Novice level dressage and BE90/BE100 level. I have had several horses that I have successfully produced to BE90 level and Novice dressage level. I have also had experience with several problematic horses (typical youngster and ex racer). My specialities lie in the schooling aspect.

Competition Details

I have competed at local shows all throughout my life. Currently I compete at BE90/BE100 level and have competed at Blair castle Scottish championships and at Badminton Grassroots. I have also qualified for Blenheim Castle Dressage championships. When I was 12 years old the British eventing Dubary challenge had just been set and I was the first to complete it. I have groomed for competition yards which involved mucking out, turning the horses out (ie plaiting, washing, clipping etc).
