Equine Work Experience

I have had a long history of working with horses as I grew up around them. I spent 7 years volunteering at my local riding stables. This gave me vital skills in helping maintain a high standard around the yard and caring for horses. Once I started showing horses, my passion grew and that led to me showing my Welsh cobs at shows such as the Royal Highland and the Royal Welsh. However, since bringing on my young Welsh D in recent years, I have a growing interest in eventing. This stemmed from training with Sarah Houlden at Strathearn Eventing in 2020 with my horse, Tango. I would love to have the opportunity to grow this interest over the summer months.

Specialities

I have worked with a range of different horses throughout my life. However, I would say I have an interest in working with young stock as I have either helped or taken sole charge of backing in every horse I have owned. Due to my showing experience, I have the ability to turn out to a good standard, however would enjoy the opportunity to improve upon these skills.

Type of Ride Work

As I have said before, I have ridden mostly green and young horses. However, recently I have taken a focus upon my horse and have become more precise in my flatwork and jumping.

Competition Details

As previously mentioned I have shown my Welsh Cobs as various shows around the country.

I also compete for Glasgow University's equestrian team. This involves performing a basic dressage test and then a showjumping round. However, you are doing this on horses you have never ridden before and have had only 5 minutes to warm upon. My team have achieved great success so far and are hopefully on their way to regionals.
