I have not worked in a professional environment before, however I am keen to learn, and can bring a lot of equine experience with me. I have owned horses since I was three, worked with youngsters since I was eleven, and competed up to National 1.30m with my horse that I had as a fifteen year old and, because of this, I am extremely experienced handling fresh and fit competition horses. I am using my gap year to work with my current horse with the aim of getting her to a similar level, alongside trying to find work to further my skills.
I have experience with removing shoes in an emergency, basic first aid, clipping, plaiting, and various other things that are inevitable when owning horses for fifteen years. I have done small bits of paid schooling and riding for other people (young and problem ponies), who have all been happy with my work. I have never worked with youngstock or started/broken in, but it is something that I think I could turn my hand to with ease and a little guidance.
I am calm and patient both riding and handling young or difficult horses. I'm hard working and reliable, and am always keen to learn new skills.
Type of Ride Work
I have been riding and training youngsters since I was twelve, and have worked with and helped overcome problems such as bad rearing and napping since then too. My specialty is show jumping, however I am invested in my flat work and always work with the mindset that a horse's health and happiness is always more important than its performance. I also have some low-level experience with dressage and cross country, both training and in competition.
