Equine Work Experience

I began gaining experience with horses when I volunteered to assist at Cheltenham RDA (riding for the disabled association), I then became a morning groom at a riding school and livery yard for a year working one day a week whilst I was at my first college studying health and social care. Whilst working here I mostly mucked out stables and brought in/ turned out horses as well as tacking horses up ready for lessons. During half-terms I would work most days of the week in exchange for riding. The second yard I worked on was a private boutique livery yard in Cowley, where I was sole-worker of the yard on weekends. Here I completed the same tasks of mucking out, turning out/bringing in, cleaning around the yard and also developed new skills such as lunging, making up personalised feeds for each of the horses and using a quad bike and trailer.

My final yard was a polo yard in Birdlip, where I had my own group of 5 horses which is exercised and cared for on a daily basis.
