Qualifications
No official equestrian qualifications as I grew up and gained most of my experience in Barbados. I have completed 3 A-levels in Bio, Chem, and Maths
Equine Work Experience
I have worked with all types of horses, from little schooling ponies to OTTB in Barbados and then to higher end dressage horses upon moving to England. Learned to ride and have over 10 years of experience in a riding school in Barbados. Towards the end I was one of the most experienced and helped out my coaches nearly everyday with the beginners or anything the needed help with. I now work part time at a private dressage yard as a stable hand/groom and have worked here for a little over a year.
Specialities
I have a high work ethic and I like to work towards a high standard, like keeping the yard and horses as well as happy and comfortable. I’m also very compliant and will do any job that is asked of me. I’m good at working with any type of horse once I get to learn their habits and personalities. I’ve also owned and co-owned horses before so I am aware of the time and effort required.
Type of Ride Work
Most of my experience is in show jumping however I have evented at a 1* level in Barbados a couple of times. I have ridden mainly thoroughbreds from off the track that have been retrained to either showjump or go into the riding school. I have helped retrain many ex racehorses and ex polo horses to go into the riding school however I have never gotten the chance to start a horse because most of them that came to the school have been broken already.
Competition Details
I have competed in and helped organize competitions most of my riding life in Barbados, including FEI shows, but I haven’t gotten the chance to get much experience regarding the competition scene in the UK.
