Equine Work Experience

I have worked in a professional hunt yard in hunt service for the 23/24 season, working as a part of a team and completing both yard duties and turnout to a consistently high standard. As a part of this, I have taken part in mounted hound exercise, cubbing, hunting and second horsing - including taking out less experienced horses or horses that have been out for a length of time due to injury - I have also been to an overnight away hunt, where I catered to 4 horses including treating minor injuries.

Previous to this, I attended Hartpury College studying equine management and graduating with a Level 3 diploma at DDD, I was also a part of the Grooms Academy during my second year where I received speciality training for things like clipping and plaiting. I have also groomed at low level showing and dressage competitions, including home prep, on the day and aftercare.

Type of Ride Work

I have exercised a variety of different horses - from thoroughbreds to turbo cobs, young and more green/spooky to more schoolmaster types - mainly hacking both in groups and solo, schooling, fast work and hunting. I have also assisted in bringing back into work after injury/holiday and have taken horses out hunting for the first time after this.

Competition Details

Though I haven't had the chance to compete myself, I have groomed for a friend at some low level showing and dressage competitions, assisting in the day home prep, day of, and aftercare.

During my time at Hartpury I took part in show duties, which consisted of activities like arena stewarding (eg. Calling someone from the warm-up arena to the collecting arena), music control for dressage and pole picking for showjumping. Through this I also have some experience scribing for dressage judges.
