Qualifications

In December 2020, I completed Module 1 of the Stable Yard Skills Stage 1 of the South African National Instructor's Plan (SANIP). They covered knowledge on tack, blankets and boots, grooming horses, yard safety, and horse behaviour and physiology. I received a passing grade of 79% total. I am hoping to complete BHS Exams for the Groom with Riding Pathway while I work at a yard to collect experience.

Equine Work Experience

Ridden horses for 15 years, doing flatwork, dressage and show jumping. Competed for 2 of these 15 years, learning about competition preparations such as plaiting, washing and safe trucking. Volunteered at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre.

Specialities

Experiences in various riding disciplines such as flatwork, dressage and show jumping. Competition experience and preparation such as bathing and plaiting. Comprehensive knowledge of equine physiology and behaviour, tack, blankets and grooming. Experience working in and leading a team in my volunteering roles at St John Ambulance. Experience working on a yard thanks to volunteering at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden school horses for most of my riding years. Most were calm and relaxed and some were more of a challenge. I have done flatwork, dressage, show jumping and a little bit of cross country. I started learning about how to lunge a horse.

Competition Details

I competed for my school for two years. I took part in dressage, Prix Caprilli, Equitation and show jumping competitions organised by the South African National Equestrian School's Association (SANESA).
