Duties of Current Occupation

Groom/rider at international dressage yard, polo groom, rehab of race horses and other competition horses and breaking of race horses, recently a TA in a private school teaching children to ride and looking after their ponies.

Equine Work Experience

I’ve owned my own horses all my life competing in Showjumping, Dressage and showing. I was apart of our local pony club through out my childhood and competed for them going to area 9 championships in both dressage and showjumping. Through secondary school and college i competed my mare in showjumping and dressage although now retired from competing. I still compete in showing but have recently turned my hand to trying in-hand showing with my two 3 year old miniature Shetlands who are currently competing at county level with my youngest of the two coming 2nd in her first HOYS qualifier. I have also bred my own youngster using my sisters eventing mare. She is now 3 and a half and we will be starting the breaking process later this year together. I also still own my 3rd pony who is now 30 years old and still looks amazing. Owning older horses has taught me a lot about nutrition and different feeds older horses need compared to competition horses who are in their prime.

Specialities

I have occasionally worked with foals and have worked with 2 and 3 year old racing colts for the last 4 years. I have also bred my own youngster who is now 3 years old. I can turn out horses to a high standard having worked on a international dressage yard and competed in showing i have learnt a lot and is something i very much so enjoy doing. I have worked in a team of people and have taught others how to use the water treadmill and spa. I am very happy to work individually or part of a team.

Type of Ride Work

My strongest ridden work is flatwork and polo work. I am able to jump horses and hunted all last season. I use to school horses for Katie Bailey at her yard which varied from young dressage horses to Grand Prix horses. I’ve schooled and exercised polo ponies for a family run polo yard, riding one and leading 3 in a school and in fields.

Competition Details

I’ve competed in showing as a child and still show two of my youngsters now. I have also competed in pony club show jumping teams and dressage teams. With my horse I have competed individually at Hartpury showjumping and have competed at the riding club championship in dressage. I have worked in competition yards for the last 5 years, getting the horses ready for races or dressage competitions and packing for stay away shows.
