Duties of Current Occupation

I have ridden/worked with horses since I was a young girl. I have experience in riding schools, event yards and hunt yards. I have looked after private yards and all of their animals as well as the owner's property when they have been away.

Equine Work Experience

I worked for ‘Ullenwood Court Riding Centre’ for almost 6 years after starting riding lessons there as a child. My sister and I would work all weekend (much to our parent's disgust at the early mornings and long journeys) for 'free rides' as our 'payment'. I then went on to work for ‘Ellenborough Park Stables’ where I did my BHS Stage 1, 2 & 3 Apprenticeship in Horse Care and Management. Following that I worked for ‘Mill Farm Equestrian Centre’ doing general yard duties, helping out at the riding school, teaching lessons and then furthermore worked at ‘College Farm’ in Wyck Rissington on a private hunt/event yard which included keeping horses fit, preparing them for events/hunt days, field, paddock, arena and ground maintenance and all the general yard duties. Due to a huge loss in my family in January 2022 I stopped working for a while and somehow never really managed to fall back into horses which I miss so dearly. I would love the opportunity to get back into it again.

Specialities

I have worked with riding school ponies/horses, hunt horses, event horses, yearlings, brood mares and foals but with only a few stallions. I am very tidy and always do my best to perform to the highest possible standard. When working at College Farm I always turned out the horses in preparation for hunting or eventing to the very best of my ability. I love keeping tack clean and the horses looking and feeling their absolute best.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden hunt horses, event horses, happy hacker type horses, ponies and riding school/school masters. I haven't ridden properly for around 3 years compared to riding 5 or 6 a day but I do look after a horse for a friend who I hack out occasionally when time allows. I used to hack out, jump in the school or out cross country, do pole work or just flat work and I have been hunting a handful of times. It would certainly take me a little while to get used to it again but I am so keen.
