Equine Work Experience
As a welfare focused indiviudual, I like to approach problems with the horse in mind before inserting myself or anthropomorphising the situation. I tend to avoid rhetoric such as he is being naughty on purpose/it's because she's a mare. For example There was a mare at a riding school I volunteered at who hated her girth being tightened. To ensure her wellbeing, but also completing tasks, I would softly speak to her as I would slowly adjust the girth to the intended tightness. I found that this approach reduced aggression/stress behaviour, and I was able to complete the task more quickly.
