Duties of Current Occupation

Currently working on an eventing stud breaking in and producing the young horses to competing them in their early events. All yard duties and everything else that comes with running a stud - foaling, transporting horses, vet visits, plaiting, worming

Equine Work Experience

Having worked as a work rider/ groom on studs, racing, hunting, eventing and dealing yards has allowed me to experience a vast range of the equine industry. I have a real passion for producing young horses and retraining racehorses and love spending time on doing it slowly and properly and getting the basics right. Riding racehorses, 'breakers', 'problem' horses and competition horses has given me huge experience of different types and the need for adaptability, flexibility and a bit of tactfulness. I work well alone using my own initiative and can prioritise tasks and adapt plans. I can also manage and train other staff members. i can muck out standing on my head with my eyes closed, can handle pretty much any horse - or will at least have a go. The trickier something seems just makes me happier to work out why 😂 I can drive a trailer or HGV and can groom, clip and plait, have also done some teaching and am still so eager to keep learning and growing.

Specialities

Can manage, prioritise and work efficiently whilst remaining calm in an emergency and logically plan a solution. Happy to work alone using own initiative or wiithin a team. Am optimistic, reliable and laid-back. Quiet around horses believing in a calm, confident, relaxed yet assertive approach to instil confidence and trust in them. The early days are so important and I am passionate about giving horses the best start in life possible.

Type of Ride Work

Currently back and produce horses for an eventing stud all the way through to their early shows and events. Have previously been a rider in showjumping studs managing and training my own group of horses through their early education. Have also ridden racehorses - work on the gallops, over fences and hunting point to pointers. Have retrained many ex racehorses. Competed in eventing generally just up to BE100, newcomers showjumping and intermediate team chases.

Competition Details

Have taken young horses out to 'first parties' and events. Often go competing/ training alone with numerous horses. Can turnout horses for competition, also led up and turned out at races and sales.
