Duties of Current Occupation

Groom and RDA coach. grooming, mucking out, turning out and catching in, preparing feeds, preparing horses for lessons, riding and exercising various horses/ponies and tack and general yard cleanliness, competition preparation, driving horsebox.

Equine Work Experience

10 years groom on predominantly RDA yards, Riding for 16 years, RDA coach for 7 years. The main responsibilities of my role include all aspects of the horses day to day care, such as grooming, mucking out, turning out and catching in, preparing feeds, preparing horses for lessons, riding and exercising various horses/ponies and tack and general yard cleanliness. I also have experience with first aid and administering medications, assisting in competition preparation and travelling/driving horseboxes and other yard vehicles. The other major part of my role involved coaching a diverse cross section of people with a variety of disabilities and special needs. Short term work in other yards including rehabilitation facilities.

Specialities

Coaching a variety of people with disabilities, building confidence in fearful riders, training new volunteer groups, being responsible/ organising groups of volunteers/ riders on various RDA fun days/events.

Type of Ride Work

Mainly flatwork and hacking, novice jumping due to limited opportunities to do so.

Competition Details

Attended RDA regional and national shows, Have taken a team of riders and volunteers to Royal Windsor Horse Show.
