Duties of Current Occupation
Work independently and as a team. Devise and carry out interventions for children. Communicate well with children and adults. Cope with difficult situations calmly. Record information accurately and show progression of children.
Equine Work Experience
Owned my own pony from aged 14 for 11 years until he died.
Taught children to ride and also stable management from aged 16 until for 9 years at a local yard where I volunteered in exchange for livery.
Owned own freelance business for 3 years. I would go to the yard or place of owner and would carry out all manner of equine required work, including schooling, exercising, teaching children or adults on their own horses/ponies, mucking out, turning out, feeding, grooming and anything else that was needed.
Since having children I have not worked with horses and have not done much riding, only when I have been able to, but when I have ridden I have always asked to tack and groom my own horse and lead them to the mounting place so that I can still feel 'fresh' with what I know.
I may need some reminding of how things are done, or showing if they have changed since I last worked with horses, but I am a willing and fast learner who is always willing to discover more.
Specialities
I am able to be calm around all manner of horses and in my younger days was the person who was chosen to work with the 'difficult' horses or ponies. I am very tidy, conscientious and efficient and can work well alone or as a team. I am a fast learner and am very keen to learn more about horses since my break from them.
Type of Ride Work
Currently, due to weight and lack of riding in last few years, I would only be looking to ride for exercise or simply schooling. However, I am losing the weight and getting fitter and with some refresher riding I would be happier to work with more 'hotter' horses or ponies. I do not necessarily need a position which includes riding and am happy to work just as a ground groom/yard worker
