Duties of Current Occupation

work riding - go racing - turn out - and head lass - run barn, check horses, feed, medicate, bandage, manage 22 horses per barn with staff (2 barns) - mucking out, bedding, hay, grooming, blanketing etc

Equine Work Experience

In South Africa we had our own yard and I was very competitive - turning out my own horses for various events. I current work in racing in the UK and have been at the same yard for 4 years now. I have been a competitive rider since the age of 8. Go racing (daily and overnight) prepare horses for travel, turn out, tacking up, cooling down, bathing and plaiting (turn out)

Specialities

I have leadership qualities - I manage a team in my barns (2 barns with 22 horses in each) - I have excellent turn out skills and as I go racing often I win best turned out 99% of the time - I was a competitive showjumper (1.30m), did some dressage and eventing in South Africa. I schooled up young horses took them thru the grades etc. I have worked with various horses.

Type of Ride Work

I have worked with young green horses, training flat work, jumping and did hunting over the years as well as some dressage and eventing - but my main disciple was showjumping. I am currently a work rider and work with all the problem horses and I am also involved with the early education of the youngsters coming in.

Competition Details

My mother used arrange shows at our yard and I used to assist her - however not directly. I have been a competitive rider since the age of 8 - Showjumping was my main interest however I competed in eventing, dressage and showing as well - I competed most weekends. As a junior rider I was selected into our Western Province Team to compete at nationals in showjumping with both my showjumpers. We always took our own horses to shows etc and all our turn out work was done at home.
