Duties of Current Occupation

I work at a Cat Cafe so main duties include animal care for the cats as I open, close and during the day - I also tell customers about the cats that we care for in the cafe as well as serving drinks.

Equine Work Experience

I have loaned a range of horses in the past, so I can mange a variety of horses. Including one ex race horse and an older horse that required daily medicine (which I was responsible for). I have 15 years of riding experience, from schooling to hacking holidays. I also volunteered when I was younger, to work on a yard at weekends, helping muck out, tack up ponies, grooming and even lead little ones round the arena. I also helped out on pony days. I have hacked out in a number of places, including North Yorkshire, Canada and Spain. Therefore I am well accustomed to different terrain and how to ride on it.

Specialities

As my Jobs require me to be, I am friendly and approachable with new people/ customers, my job also has a lot of children and people with special needs come in so I’m comfortable interacting with them. Due to working with animals, I can politely but firmly inform people of rules that keep both them and the animals safe. In the past, I have been responsible for a section of a yard, making sure that all horses there were fed the right feed, as well as making sure the beds were clean.

Type of Ride Work

I’m comfortable with hacking, flat work, dressage and jumping. I can happily sit through the motions of walk, trot, canter and gallop. I do know basic road safety as well.

I have managed a range of horses, as I loaned them, non came from schooling backgrounds, so I did have to watch out for bad habits, and I have sat (and fallen) through my fair share of spooks, however non of these horses were problematic or overly green, and all where over 10 years of age.
