Duties of Current Occupation

I’ve worked in racing and on a range of equine yards, handling daily care, yard duties, and fit horses. Confident, experienced, and reliable in fast-paced environments with a strong understanding of horse care and stable routines.

Equine Work Experience

I have extensive hands-on experience working with horses across a variety of professional settings. I spent time at two different racing yards, where I gained valuable insight into the care, fitness, and management of performance horses. My responsibilities included daily yard duties, exercising and grooming racehorses, assisting with vet and farrier visits, and preparing horses for training and competition. Alongside this, I completed three years at an equine college and riding school, developing strong practical and theoretical knowledge in horse care, stable management, and riding. I worked with horses of all ages, temperaments, and disciplines, improving my handling skills and adaptability. Additionally, I volunteer with the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association), supporting riders of all abilities and ensuring a safe, positive environment. These experiences have strengthened my confidence, teamwork, and passion for providing the highest standard of equine welfare.

Specialities

Specialist skills include equine first aid, strong flatwork knowledge, and a passion for teaching and horse welfare. I’m confident working with children, creating safe and engaging learning experiences. I achieved Distinctions in my flatwork teaching module and am eager to continue developing as an instructor. My patience, communication, and attention to detail support both rider progress and horse wellbeing.

Type of Ride Work

My riding experience is predominantly flatwork-based, with strong skills in schooling and hacking out confidently in all four paces. I have done a little jumping but focus mainly on developing correct, balanced flatwork. I have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of riding and the scales of training, which I apply to improve communication, rhythm, and suppleness in every horse I ride.

Competition Details

I’ve worked on racing yards preparing horses for competitions and developing training programmes to enhance performance. My role included daily care, fitness routines, and presentation for race days. I also organised an in-college dressage competition, managing entries, schedules, and scoring. These experiences strengthened my organisation, teamwork, and understanding of competition preparation and horse management.
