Equine Work Experience
I feel advantaged to feel so familiar with the essence of Penniwells and what it's about on a core level. I take so much joy from seeing riders progress to being independent. I see so much potential in every individual and love to dedicate time and energy to see that become a reality. Therefore, I think I would make a great teacher and would love to explore this avenue. Having trained in musical theatre, I think I would be able to bring creativity and play-like fun to my lessons. I would also love to incorporate music into this.
As a volunteer, I have grown to know each horse well and build a bond with them all. Their wellbeing is my priority and as a staff member you can trust that my care will reflect that. I find the busy nature of the yard exciting and look forward to be able to step up and take more responsibility and initiative. I am confident with all yard duties and am able to do these quickly and safely; asking if I am unsure.
Specialities
I am able to follow direction to a high standard or step up and take responsibility for a number of people if need be. I am outgoing and feel confident working with people. I think my experience of mental health gives me great insight into getting the best out of both volunteers and clients and I am able to deal with difficult situations effectively. My already strong relationship with the entire team will make the transition seamless and communicative; when asking for guidance and feedback.
Type of Ride Work
Having ridden a wide range of horses from the age of 6, I am confident in my ability to be flexible and cater to their individual needs. Being lightweight, I have had lots of experience riding naughty ponies, as well as schooling and bringing on those that are young and green. My main priority, whilst keeping them fit, it's important that RDA horses are calm and steady enough for what their job requires. I am a sensitive and kind rider and I particularly love to hack.
Competition Details
Having volenteered at Regional and Nationals, I can see similarities between the preparation for theatre performance, and preparation for the sport. I feel that my experience in this area serves me well under pressure. I remain calm and work efficiently in a stressful working environment and know that teamwork has the best affect. I follow high standards of presentation and know how important preparation is in order for the final output to be safe and enjoyable.
