Qualifications
I have completed my pony club C+ test and was about to arrange the B test when school exams got in the way. What I lack in exam certificates I believe I make up for in experience and a drive to always learn on the job. You only need to show my something once and you can be sure it will be done to the same standard next time.
Duties of Current Occupation
General bar duties inclusive with managing a small team and controlling stock levels.
Equine Work Experience
From the age of around 10 years old I did weekend work on a hunting yard doing general yard duties including mucking out, grooming and riding. This progressed to me getting the horses ready for the hunt season, plaiting, clipping, cleaning tack and general pre meet duties. From it being a small yard of around 6 horses, I have had a lot of responsibility and experience to do things alone and as part of a team. This has also meant that I have had to work quickly and efficiently to get everything completed on time. I still work here 1-2 days a week alongside my other jobs.
Specialities
I keep my horse at a small yard at home where it is only my auntie and myself. From a young age I have always had to do a lot for myself and learn along the way. I have therefore had the responsibility to maintain a yard and work quickly to get everything done after school. I attended pony club camp every year and for the final few was yard leader to a yard of 7 children and ponies. Standards were kept high regarding a tidy yard and turn out to win best yard 2 years running.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden a variety of horses from naughty 11.2h ponies to 18h hunt horses. I am very competitive so have had to work hard in my flatwork to produce my best in dressage tests and to get good ability in control to jump off turns! I have always owned mares so have learnt to adapt my riding to the horse and keep a level head when arguments begin! I have done BE, BS and hunted. I enjoy pushing myself and getting results and producing my own horse is definitely next now I am not studying.
Competition Details
I competed up the levels in pony club, making it to the Pony Club champs in every discipline both as a part of a team and individually every year between 2015-2018. I will also be attending this year in the Open SJ as both individual and team. Over the lockdown period I have mainly focused on BS and have qualified for the champs this August. I hope to get back into eventing this year. I have also organised a few small pony club competitions.
