Duties of Current Occupation

Assist Service User (SU) with support to give them as much independence as possible and flexibility for themselves, to socialise, personal commitments and give family e.g. parents a respite. Working with ratio of 1 staff : 1 service user or 2:2.

Equine Work Experience

I have not worked at a professional yard before, I have only assisted/volunteered twice at a local P.C session and a 1 day event.

I completed an National Certificate (NC) in Horse Care: 2018-2020, via Learning Distance over 2 years to which I hope to continue studying onto the HNC after the Summer in 2021.

Specialities

My experience in equine is mainly consist around my pony and any handling during the NC course of Horse Care in which some of the sessions were held at a local livery yard, that I am also a livery member at. While I do not have much experience in the Horse Industry, I do have experience in other aspect through my previous and current jobs that would give me some advantage to adapt quickly and efficiently such as in leading a small team or solo charge as an Archery Instructor.

Type of Ride Work

Currently I own a Connie x TB pony, who is laid-back yet has spook/bolting moments that we have been overcoming and has improves as my confidence has grown much more over the last year. We are mainly a 'Happy Hacker' or pleasure ride - Hacking out to woods - involves going on roads (semi-quiet, back/countryside roads) to reach a woodland area, either solo or small groups. Occasionally have riding lessons when I am struggling or wanting a change to focus on a target for us.

Competition Details

No previous work at a competition yard or as a competition groom. Any previous experience in being involved in organising competitions/event would have been through my Sport Coaching course or with the Boy's Brigade for events such as day trips, camps.

I have only entered myself and my pony Puzzle in an informal event - Braveheart competition - organised by Caledonian Riding Club at a local yard, where we were livery at. We competed in the handling, and then a walk and trot entry.
