Equine Work Experience

I graduated from Hartpury University with a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Equine Management. Modules I took were mainly business and management focused as this is my main interest. Since 2015 I have been helping out at my riding school. Duties include grooming and tacking up, mucking out, helping in lessons, exercising horses, etc. I am also often left in charge of the yard if the yard manager is unable to come in, and may be left to supervise clients if the instructor needs to momentarily leave the arena. I volunteered at Horseback UK, a charity that provides equine therapy for veterans, for a year. I volunteered for two RDA groups, including a carriage driving group. I have worked at summer camps as a riding counselor. I have also spent time training with Kelly Wilson, and tamed a wild mare named Arizona. Currently employed at the World Horse Welfare as a groom on maternity cover.

Specialities

BSc (Hons) Equine Management Several years of friendly customer service experience. Some teaching experience. Natural horsemanship and liberty training methods. Rehabilitation and behavioural training.

Type of Ride Work

I am considered a quite, gentle yet firm rider. I have experience in riding green and nervous horses to prepare them for work in the riding school, as well as exercising the riding school ponies. I have been developing my ridden skills and hope to start competing at affiliated BD shows. I thoroughly enjoy trekking and hope to explore endurance riding as a sport in the future. Experience backing and re-backing horses.
