Duties of Current Occupation

Customer assistance, general maintenance of pitch and cars; collecting, transporting etc.

Equine Work Experience

Professionally-have worked part time at a horse Trekking yard in Scotland; involved taking novice riders out on riding school horses on trails. Also general maintenance of yard and horse care.

Have owned my own horse for several years, now have another; a recue ex-race horse which I part own with my mother and also three miniature Shetland rescues.

Mostly it's just hacking and flat work schooling that I have done with my own horse. Have done some jumping (4 ft max) when he was a bit younger, however he is getting on a bit now so we are a bit more limited. The ex-racer is just undergoing handling and some gentle riding to strengthen up her back muscles after having a year off to learn how to be a horse after her brief but intense start to life as a race horse.

Also I am a volunteer for the local Riding for the Disabled association- the centre is undergoing a new build so currently my role is schooling and exercising the horses in preparation for the return of clients.

Specialities

Horse handling skills; am calm and competent with horses and animals. Attention to detail and efficient worker-yard work and mucking up etc. Sensitive rider, quiet hands. Good level of fitness, balanced- do lots of 'off-horse' core and body work exercise such as yoga and Pilates. Empathetic to the horse.

Competition Details

Local horse shows; jumping classes and working hunter classes mostly.
