Equine Work Experience

I have spent the last year working on a showing yard, turning out to a high standard, grooming, schooling, attending shows as a student and managing the yard in the absence of the owner. Prior to this I have worked in a riding school environment, taking out hack rides and coaching beginner classes. I also completed a degree in equine performance management. References can be provided from all previous employers of which I am still in contact with.

Specialities

I have worked with broodmares, foals, yearlings and youngstock. I hold myself to a high standard in everything I do, from grooming to mucking out and I work hard as a dedicated member of the team.

Type of Ride Work

Due to working on a showing yard, I have mainly worked on the flat, schooling a range of horses from competition horses to youngsters. I have helped back and break several horses. I have experience riding green horses and have had multiple projects in the past which I have brought on myself. I have been hunting many times, and love to jump recreationally however it is not my strongest area due not having my own horse currently, so I have not been jumping consistently or regularly.

Competition Details

As part of the event management module of my course we had to organise an event, our team running a 4 class show day for students and staff. This gave me an idea of the behind the scenes aspect of running events. I have competed in unaffiliated dressage and showjumping on previous loan horses and my bosses horses. Working on a showing yard, I was training to be a competition groom and attending shows such as royal Windsor to learn how to groom to a high level in a competition environment.
