I am stage 2 qualified - groom and care. As well as ride. I am working towards my stage 2 teach.
BHS Stage 1 BHS Stage 2
I do general yard duties , including : feeding, haying, mucking out, wound cleaning and general care of the horse, as well as field management. I school ponies and horses , including hacking. I’m head girl on a Saturday supervising 3/4 others.
I have had my own horse for 2 years, that I bought over from Ireland as a 4 year old, that had done a months work. We are now competing at BE90. I have had lots of challenges whilst doing this with him, which I believe has made me more passionate to achieve. I started working at my current work yard 4 years ago at the weekends. However I have been there full time since September 2018. When I began at the yard I took part in pony club and stable days this was when I decided I wanted to work with horses. I also helped a lady back a horse a few years ago.
I get recognised for my ability to school our more challenging horses, I also get praised for my efficiency on the yard with everything I do. I use our quad and poo picker on a daily basis.
With my own horse I’ve been schooling in all disciplines, with the horses at work it tends to be flat and jump and light hacking. I’ve been taking part in many different types of clinic from jump clinics to natural horsemanship , to gain the best knowledge I can.
I am competing BE and have been for a year . I’ve also been to many unaffiliated showjumping and dressage competitions.
