We have had a working student internship program for 2 decades. Many of our graduates have gone on to accomplish great things in the horse industry. If you are successful, you will leave with a fantastic reference and letter of recommendation in addition to gaining an invaluable amount of experience. What will you gain? Exactly what you put in. We love to work with students who can use this internship for college credit too, but that is not mandatory.
I do have some previous experience with horses. I am very confident when it comes to handling them, but am looking for a job where I can work on my riding as well as work. I have grown up around 3 cobs one of which could be very temperamental. I spent a summer helping a friend in preparation for competitions with her thoroughbred as well as go out on hacks with her. I would love to widen my knowledge with horses and gain a lot more experience.
