Qualifications

BEd Honours in Primary Education. First Aid at Work. National Pool Lifeguard. Pony Club B Test. Child Safeguarding. My teaching career was a more secure option than pursuing equestrian qualifications in my twenties, but lots of my teaching skills are transferable.

Duties of Current Occupation

I am a qualified primary school teacher with 25 years experience, teaching throughout Key Stage 2 and currently working in a lovely rural prep school. I adore my job but commute 2 hours per day so have little time for my passion, which is horses.

Equine Work Experience

Own a sports horse who enjoys a variety of jobs in competition. BD, BE, BS, showing and TREC. Have ridden at all National Riding Club finals. Worked at Polhill Riding Centre (teaching able-bodied and disabled riders) during my gap year. Have instructed at Pony Club (North West Kent) rallies and camps. Worked at professional dressage yard (Cranbourne Farm) at weekends to pay for my livery. Was chairperson of The Dartford and District Riding Club for 12 years plus - organised training, competitions, area events during this time.

Specialities

I am able to complete all yard duties to a high standard. I grew up in a non horsey family but was 'adopted' by my Pony Club DC who provided me with an excellent horsey education (PC 'B' test). I have competed affiliated in BS (BN level), BE (pre novice), BD (medium) and regularly show at county level (success at Hickstead, Windsor, Equifest etc with own horse). I take pride in my turnout and can clip, pull manes and tails and plait. I have my C1 driver's licence and my own 7.2 tonne lorry.

Type of Ride Work

Have ridden starters and young horses. Happy to do so again. Enjoy schooling and am a neat, effective rider, but wouldn't be jumping 130 courses any time soon! Happy to hunt.

Competition Details

Organised many riding club rallies, training sessions and competitions (dressage and jumping), including the Area Dressage (9 arenas including music classes) and Team showjumping. Chef d'Equipe for Pony Club and Riding Club teams in all spheres. Have groomed for friends competing locally and for affiliated showing. Many times winner of tack and turnout - experienced with dirty grey mares!!!
