Equine Work Experience
My time in the industry has predominantly been spent within riding schools, but I have also spent some time working in dressage yards and with liveries. In addition I am qualified and experienced in the care of many other species such as hoofstock and small mammals. I am happy working as an entry level employee but am often projected into positions of a supervisory nature as as I am supervising my approach to handling staff and helpers is fair, calm and understanding. I have some limited experience with youngstock and stallions as well as a broad range of equines - everything from a fallabella to grand prix dressage horses.
Specialities
As a fast learner I am apt to find myself multitasking, switching between roles as a supervisor, rider, groom and instructor at a moments notice. I have a keen sense of what needs doing and being able to get things done quickly, such as fitting in mucking out a stable in the short gaps between lessons. My exceptional communication skills and gentle approach have made me a popular instructor. I excel at tailoring every lesson to the individual horse and rider on that day.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden a large variety of horses, but approach all of them with a gentle, sympathetic mindset. I have some experience with schooling competition horses on the flat, but lack confidence in my jumping. I will ride any horse and enjoy the cheeky ponies as much as the hot headed eventers. I'm fortunate to have a sticky seat and an excellent sense of self preservation!
Competition Details
Not competitive by nature, I have never sought to compete. My passion for horses revolves around building a connection with them and riding them in harmony. However, I would have some interest in competing in dressage and endurance later on.
