Equine Work Experience
I have been working with and riding horses since I was 7 years old. I started at a riding school where we were taught to ride and carry out stable duties i.e. mucking out, poo-picking, ragworting, grooming and plaiting ponies/horses as practice for showing, bathing and making feeds. I was there for 5 years and did this every weekend, I was also taught how to ride here and was often asked to help out with lessons once I was more advanced. I also did showing and some show jumping here which I placed in. I have since learned other skills such as filling up haynets/mangers, rugging-up and turning out horses. I have also been taught road safety and hacking-out rules. Altogether I have been riding and been in constant contact with horses for a total of 19 years with my most recent experience being on a Stud Farm local to me handling youngsters, broodmares, foals and stallions. I have had a loan for 3 years and others prior to this.
Specialities
Worked on a stud farm with stallions, brood mares and foals. Handled lively youngsters and helped with their early education.
Type of Ride Work
I don't have a specific type of riding which I do, I have done many different types of riding such as dressage, show jumping, hacking and schooling. I mostly enjoy schooling, dressage and pole work but do not mind trying something new or doing whatever is needed or asked of me. I have previously done local showjumping however I am not as confident as was when I was younger as I have not focused on this but I am willing to do try again.
Competition Details
I have attended many family shows as well as a few bigger shows such as Hadlow when I first started showing. When I loaned my pony we used to hold shows at the stables for the public and were asked to join in with our own horses to give them some experience of showing on home ground. I have attended a Dressage competition before and was placed 3rd of 30 or so riders. I qualified for Hickstead Sunshine Tours but was unfortunately unable to attend.
