Equine Work Experience
I have been around horses since I was around 9 and have been lucky enough to have my own to ride in this time. I learnt to ride on a horse who was green (under my mums help and supervision). I own my own horse who I have brought on from being green and inexperienced, we have the goal to try a bit if everything, however still need to get more confidence out and about. I have broken in a youngster alongside my mum, so I have experience with youngsters and the backing process. I have experience with slightly naughty ponies as my mare does rear, however with perseverance she will now only use this behaviour when she is feeling overwhelmed and unsure which is most likely when we are somewhere she hasn’t been before. I know how to handle horses on the ground however I tend to only deal with smaller ponies so I may need some guidance with bigger horses but I have looked after some before.
Specialities
Worked with a lot of young horses, so I am educated within this field. I have a soft approach to riding, my mare came to me in a Pelham and is now happily snaffle mouthed. I have done an online course in behaviours in horses so have an understanding of how they learn and perceive things.
Type of Ride Work
Me and my mare give everything a go, with have competed in both showjumping and dressage but only low levels as we haven’t had the chance to get enough competition experience to move up the levels due to the lack of venues and shows recently. I am competent with both dressage and showjumping but lack confidence out cross-country, which I am slowly working on.
Competition Details
Compete showjumping and dressage, I am only at the lower levels but my mare has the potential to go further we are just lacking in competition venues to progress and gain experience. I am not a regular competitor and compete unaffiliated.
