Equine Work Experience
I have over 5 years of hands-on equine experience, supported by formal training through my Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management at Askham Bryan College. My experience includes working independently on livery yards, where I was responsible for the daily care and management of a variety of horses, including young horses and horses with significant medical needs such as blindness. As Head Girl on a busy livery yard, I helped oversee the care of 30+ horses, including foals and youngstock, and was trusted with their individual routines, medication and general wellbeing as well as overseeing other members of the team.
During my time at Camp America, I worked as a riding instructor, teaching children and helping with the daily management, care and upkeep of the working horses. I also gained experience caring for horses used for competitions and working in a busy environment where high standards of horse care were essential.
Specialities
Experience working with children and young people through informal teaching and riding instruction. Experienced in leading a team as Head Girl on a busy livery yard, alongside strong communication, organisation and time-management skills. Confident working independently and taking responsibility.
Type of Ride Work
Due to living away at college and focusing on my studies and yard work, I haven’t developed my riding as much as I would have liked. Following an accident a few years ago, I also lost some confidence in the saddle. During my time in America, I started riding again and loved rebuilding my confidence. I now regularly enjoy hacking and am keen to continue developing my riding.
Competition Details
As part of my Level 3 Equine Management qualification, I helped manage and run British Eventing (BE) events. I also completed a competition grooming module, which I passed with excellent results. Since then, I have gained hands-on experience preparing, tacking and grooming competition horses for shows, ensuring they are presented to a high standard.
