Duties of Current Occupation

I am most recently worked as a working student at a dressage yard learning to manage and run a yard. My duties included daily care for 6 horses, yard maintenance, keeping the yard to a high standard and exercising horses on the flat, hack and in hand

Equine Work Experience

most recently i worked at a dressage yard where I developed all my equine skills and riding ability. there I worked alone doing all the daily care of 6 horses including but not limited to making feeds, turning out and bringing in, grooming and tacking up them all, groundwork and riding 1 horse.

I have completed a 2 year college course on equine management. (level 3 advanced diploma equine management 1080) Through college I have completed a total of 395 hours of work experience. 315 of those were spent at a hunt yard taking care of 9 horses and helping with the hounds. I worked both in a team and alone to ensure the horses were all happy and healthy. I exercised the horses both ridden and on the ground. between high school and college I worked at an animal sanctuary that had 3 rescue horses. while there, I helped with the groundwork of a three year old TBxWelsh. I also helped to teach volunteers how to handle the horses and taught them about how they came to the sanctuary

Specialities

I am able to exercise horses both ridden and on the ground. i have experience both lunging and long reining. i am able to turn out to a good standard and have clipped horses though i feel i would need some more practice at this. i can muck out efficiently and like to keep the yard tidy while doing so. i am able to work alone and in a team and am able to work off of my own initiative. i can plait up well and have used both bands and thread.

Type of Ride Work

I ride very well on the flat and I am able to confidently jump small jumps. Im good at riding each horse as an individual and finding out what works best for each horse. I give confidence to younger horses and love getting them used to new things

Competition Details

I have competed in a handful of unaffiliated dressage shows and acted as a competition groom for friends

i am able to plait up and turn out to a high standard

At college, my class organised a competition for the other students in the equine department.
